After Celebrating our 5th anniversary last year, we got to thinking… what now? We looked at our previous programs, we looked at each other, we looked at the world (yikes…) and wondered were do we belong in all of this. Join us as we search a sense of belonging through stories, comedy and music in our temporary culture hub ‘De Werkplaats’.

What is the value of a life and what does it mean to feel your life is being valued?

In his show “Welcome”, Hermes will explore these questions through his own life story. As a refugee from a wartorn Afghanistan, he arrived in the Netherlands with his parents and two sisters. While assimilating to a strange new culture, Hermes learned more about his past, reflected on his time in war and peace and gathered stories and thoughts for you to experience during his show, where all of you are more than welcome!

Hermes Ahmadi decided to nosedive into comedy a bit over four years ago and immediately entered the finals of small festivals in the Netherlands! He quickly toured around the Netherlands and picked up shows in neighbouring Belgium and Germany as well. From clubs, to pubs to theaters, if there’s a stage, a stool and a mic (and a bar), Hermes will be there! Meanwhile, he developed his own brand of comedy, combining personal stories with absurd thoughts and sometimes wholesome, sometimes scalding observations about our best and worst habits. His material varies from cheese to driving, from climate change to the end of the world!
